Paal Payasam

Instructions

  1. In a heavy bottomed pan, saute cashew nuts, raisins and coconut flakes until light brown
  2. Wash the rice. Add milk and sugar and rice
  3. Cook on medium flame for 10 minutes, stirring the rice and milk frequently.
  4. Add Saffron flakes and continue stirring the pot for another 5-10 minutes.
  5. Once the rice is soft and cooked, take the pan away from heat.
  6. In 1 tablespoon of ghee, roast some cashews, almondflakes and pistachios, until the cashew and almond flake is light brown. Garnish on the paal payasam.
  7. Serve hot or cold.
